Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Trailmix Maps (“Trailmix Maps,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Trailmix Maps is a mobile app for logging outdoor accomplishments and sharing your activity with a lightweight social feed. It is built and operated by independent developers based in Colorado, United States. Until a legal entity is formed, Trailmix Maps is operated by the individuals listed as the App Store seller. You can reach us any time at trailmix.info@gmail.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information — the email address you use to sign in. We sign you in with a “magic link” sent to your email; we do not store a password.
- Profile information — your name, and optionally a profile photo, home base location, birthday, and gender. You choose what to add, and you can edit or remove most of it at any time. Birthday and gender are not shown publicly unless we clearly say otherwise in the app.
- Content you create — the outings you log (peaks, parks, and other activities), including dates, notes and trip reports, stats you enter, photos you attach, and people you tag as partners.
- Social activity — who you follow, your followers, and the cheers and comments you add. If you report or block another user, we record that so we can act on it.
- Messages to us — anything you send when you contact us or fill in the optional “why are you leaving?” survey when deleting your account.
Information created as you use Trailmix Maps
- Progress and activity — we derive things like list completion and feed activity from the outings you log.
- Location — if you grant location access, we use your device location while you are using the app to help you plan, discover, and find what’s nearby, and to show your location on the map. We do not store your device location on our servers, and we do not track your location in the background. You can decline location access, and Trailmix Maps will still work. Depending on your device settings, location may be precise or approximate. Our map provider, Mapbox, may receive map-related data, such as map requests, device/IP information, and location information when location is enabled, to provide map functionality.
- Photos — when you attach a photo, we access only the specific photos you pick. We do not read your whole photo library. When possible, we remove embedded metadata such as location information before storing or displaying uploaded photos.
Information collected automatically
- Usage analytics — we record in-app events (for example, screens viewed and key actions) to understand how Trailmix Maps is used and to improve it. This is our own first-party analytics; we do not use it to track you across other apps or websites, and we do not serve ads.
- Device, log, and troubleshooting information — we may collect basic technical information such as your device type, operating system, app version, IP address, crash logs, authentication logs, and other diagnostic information needed to operate, secure, debug, and improve Trailmix Maps.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- create and secure your account and sign you in;
- provide the core app — logging, progress, profiles, photos, and the social feed;
- show your activity to the people you have chosen to share it with;
- keep Trailmix Maps safe, including reviewing reports and enforcing our Terms;
- understand and improve how the app works; and
- respond to you when you contact us.
Safety and moderation
Trailmix Maps includes user-generated content, including profiles, outings, photos, comments, and social activity. We may review, remove, restrict, or preserve content and account information when we believe it is necessary to enforce our Terms or safety policies; respond to reports; prevent abuse; or protect users, Trailmix Maps, or the public.
How your information is shared
With other users. Your name, profile photo, and home base may be visible to other users. The outings, photos, cheers, and comments you post are shared according to your account’s privacy setting. Public account content may be visible to other Trailmix Maps users and may appear in public areas of the app. Private account content is visible only to followers you approve, except that limited profile information may still be visible so others can find or recognize you. Comment and cheer author names are visible to people who can see that post. Other users may save, screenshot, or share content you make visible to them, so please use care when posting outings, photos, comments, tags, or location-related information. We never sell your personal information.
With service providers. We use trusted providers to run Trailmix Maps. These providers may receive and process information as needed to provide, secure, support, and improve their services to us. We choose providers that commit to protecting personal information and use them to operate Trailmix Maps:
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and photo storage.
- Mapbox — powers the maps in the app.
- Apple — distributes the app and provides system services.
We may add or change service providers as Trailmix Maps grows, and we will update this policy when material changes affect how your information is handled.
Business transfers. If Trailmix Maps is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or another policy disclosed to you.
For legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or where we believe in good faith it is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.
Your choices and rights

Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide Trailmix Maps. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your profile, outings, photos, follows, cheers, comments, and other personal data associated with your account, unless we need to keep limited information for legal, safety, security, fraud-prevention, or abuse-reporting purposes. Some information may remain in backups for a limited period before being overwritten. We may retain anonymous or aggregated analytics that cannot reasonably identify you.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit and access controls that restrict data to you and the people you share with. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to promptly address issues if they arise.
Children’s privacy
Trailmix Maps is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
International users
Trailmix Maps is operated from Colorado, United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States. By using Trailmix Maps, you understand your information will be handled as described in this policy.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
